Thrifting Therapy

I finally had a chance to catch up on some thrifting. Last weekend I had my own garage sale. It was interesting to experience the garage sale from the selling side. The week before that I could only do a local sale. And the weekend before that was my son's driving event. I was in desperate need of some Thrifting Therapy!

We went to several sales today. One sale was a hoarder's house... and yard and outbuildings and garages and storage unit. Large property + Hoarder = Disaster. This was the second day of the second sale. There must have been a previous sale of just the house contents several weeks ago. The house was still full of stuff.

My favorite find was this little red vintage travel train case. It is in really nice condition and I love the color. It even has an old sticker from United Airlines.

I also found a handful of vintage Mercury glass picks with the glass parts still individually wrapped in tissue.
We found this old handmade, wooden truck display. It looks like it was meant to be displayed in a toy store. It is a bit worn and dirty but all of the wooden trucks are intact and the display should be nice once it is cleaned.
I also found this old metal toaster. It may seem like an odd selection but I plan to use it to display items. It makes a great display for the Whirly-Bird toy target in the following photo.
We also went to a few other sales where I found lots of vintage buttons and sewing notions. I am trying to get some of my vintage buttons listed in my Stuff to Treasure store soon. I've found some amazing buttons in my stash. And now I can't wait to sort through these jars and several bags full of goodies.

It was such a fun day of thrifting. I love the thrill of the hunt and I especially enjoy learning about the history of the objects and the people who collected them.

I hope everyone had a great day of Thrifting Therapy. Remember to visit my Stuff to Treasure store and follow it on Facebook to see what's new in stock.
