Junk Bonanza with a Friendly Surprise

We had planned on going to the San Diego Junk Bonanza for several weeks. We tend to be a bit spontaneous so what we "plan" and what we actually end up doing can be two different stories. Luckily this story had a happy ending and not only did I find more treasures but I was also pleasantly surprised to see a friendly face.
Jo Packham was signing copies of her magazine at the show. I worked with Jo designing the packaging for her first line of Sizzix craft dies. More recently, I shared a Sizzix demonstration booth next to hers at the Craft and Hobby Association trade show. So it was a wonderful surprise to see her listed as the special guest signing autographs at the show.

My Childhood Memories were Featured

I received an email telling me that MegaEstateSales.com had featured one of my previous posts. Of course this made me curious so I just had to check this out.
The post they featured was about how I had found items at an estate sale that brought back memories of my childhood. My father had a similar airplane wing lamp in brown. The Bakelite adding machine makes the most amazing clicking, cranking, snapping sounds that reminds me of Sunday mornings when my father would do his bookkeeping.

If you get a chance, check out MegaEstateSales and read their 101 Reasons to Love Estate Sales. The reasons are all so interesting.

Personally, I don't need all 101 reasons to love estate sales. I would go to them just for the fun of it.

Have fun!

Just Can't Stop Junkin'

I've been putting a lot of creative effort on my other other blog, LyndaCreates.com but I came to the realization that I just can't stop junkin' and thrifting. There is still the thrill of the hunt and the feeling of joy when you find that perfect something from your Thrift Wish List.

Last week, Dear Handyman and I went to Matilda's Mouse near San Diego. There was so much inspiration everywhere but I was especially thrilled to find two vintage bowling pins that have been on my Thrift Wish List for a long time. They came home with me and share a place of honor with my world globe collection.

This weekend we had such lovely weather so we decided to take a drive up to Ventura to explore their many thrift stores. I found a couple of items to use for future projects and lots of inspiration. The best part was the beautiful drive along the California coast and I had never seen the San Buenaventura Mission before.
The images of the Pacific Ocean were taken near Malibu. If you look carefully in the bottom photo, on the left along the horizon line, you can see the faint outline of the Channel Islands off of the California coast.

I am hoping to continue to share my thifting adventures on this blog. If you want to share in some DIY/crafting adventures then please come Follow me at LyndaCreates.com.
